Description: Role purpose: • To support the delivery of high quality and fun sport and activity sessions for children and young people experiencing mental health challenges The specific tasks or responsibilities involved: • Support a qualified coach in session delivery • Inspire and motivate individuals to have fun and socialise when playing sport to improve their mental health. • Be a friendly face in sessions for participants • Be committed to good practice and ensure familiarity with all Sport in Mind policies and procedures • Adhered to safeguarding policies and risk assessments. • Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of your work by developing and maintaining relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and with respect/dignity. Expectations: • Welcome attendees to the session in a friendly and warm manner. • Help any new attendees get settled into the session. • Facilitate games by either playing yourself or taking the score. • Engage with our attendees in a calm, friendly and non-judgemental manner. • Make sure any equipment is easily accessed and in good condition. • General set up and tidying up support to the session leader. • Help to spot potential hazards and take preventative measures e.g. cleaning up spilt drinks to prevent slips. Any training or support provided to volunteers: • Sport in Mind Accredited Champion Course • Opportunity to gain a DBS (if don't already have one) • Supported by development officer and accredited, qualified coach If you are under 18, but studying a Sport/Coaching course at college - you are welcome to apply!
