Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)

DBS checks are designed to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions by identifying individuals who may be unsuitable for certain areas of work, especially those which may involve contact with children or other vulnerable members.

These checks are carried out against the police national computer to see if an individual has any criminal record information against them. Under some circumstances, it may be necessary for your staff or volunteers to have a DBS check.

To understand more about DBS checks and learn about eligibility, you can use the DBS eligibility checker, it will help you assess whether a check is needed and what level is appropriate.

How it works

Bolton CVS in partnership with Salford CVS can support Bolton-based organisations to complete their DBS checks. We provide you with an application form and check the ID documents, then pass the completed form on to Salford CVS to process.

The checks cost £61 for paid workers and £16 for volunteers with fees payable to Salford CVS via cheque or invoice.
