Description: Role Title: Groups and Social Space Volunteer Where: In the YMCA When: Weekly, for minimum of two hours Commitment: To attend weekly Why We Want You: We are looking for people to be part of BAND, a proactive and caring charity offering support to individuals who live with mental health conditions. We are looking for committed volunteers with the ability to work in an empathic way in order to support beneficiaries to access the activities and leisure programmes provided by BAND’s hubs. Volunteers will benefit from the experience of working with people affected by mental health conditions. This could enhance their own skills, providing opportunities in relation to future career development or for their own personal development. The skills and experience you need: · Knowledge of mental health services in Bolton an advantage · Understanding of the impact of mental health conditions on daily living · Understanding of issues around confidentiality · Empathic approach · Good listening and communication skills · Ability to engage with service users to enhance confidence and inclusion when attending groups · Ability to work within structured boundaries · Commitment to the work and ongoing development of the hub · Ability to work as part of team · Ability to work on own initiative BAND welcomes applications from people with personal experience of mental health conditions. Notes: Volunteers play an important role in this project and will receive full training and induction programme to the service followed by ongoing support and supervision throughout their Volunteering role by the development worker of the project. Mandatory training is required prior to undertaking a hub support position and further relevant training will be offered relevant to the post.
