Description: As an Information and Advice volunteer, you will provide information to older people and their carers at our office in Bolton town centre. We have different roles available. Each role can be tailored to you and your skills. Our form-filling volunteers help people to complete benefit application forms. Our admin volunteers help with a variety of things, depending on skills, including helping to write up casework onto our CRM system; calling clients to find out how they got on with their benefit claim; or general admin jobs like stocking leaflets and collating information. What you'll be doing * Interviewing clients in person or by telephone to explore the nature of the problem * Assisting clients to benefit application complete forms * Writing up cases on our CRM system if possible * Liaising closely with the Information and Advice Officer and other advisers, seeking advice, guidance and support where required * Contacting clients by telephone to obtain outcomes or do a survey * General administration tasks What we're looking for * A good listener with the ability to identify problems and solutions in order to meet the needs of clients * Ability to understand written information and to explain things clearly without jargon * Experience of record keeping, letter writing and form filling in a support capacity * An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping * Skills and willingness to work face to face and on the telephone to clients * Ability to work as part of a team * Willingness to attend training and other events *Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check Time requirements Monday or Friday 10am - 1pm.
