Leadership Transition at BACKUP North West and Bolton CVS
NOVEMBER 2025
We are pleased to announce an important leadership transition within our local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. Dawn Yates-Obé, current Chief Executive of Bolton CVS and Director of 10GM, will be taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer at BACKUP North West, following the departure of Maura Jackson.
Maura has led BACKUP North West with distinction for over a decade, leaving behind a legacy of growth, innovation, and unwavering commitment to young people facing homelessness. Her leadership has shaped BACKUP into a trauma-informed, values-led organisation that provides safe accommodation and holistic support to nearly 200 young people each year. We thank Maura for her extraordinary service and wish her every success in her next chapter.
“The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Dawn Yates-Obé as the new Chief Executive of BACKUP North West. We look forward to working closely with her to build on the outstanding legacy that Maura leaves behind, i.e. growing and sustaining the organisation so that young people who are homeless are supported when they need it.”
– Gail Hounslea, Chair of BACKUP North West

Her move to BACKUP North West is a testament to her impact and the strength of our sector.
“Dawn’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Bolton CVS and the wider VCSE sector. Her move to BACKUP North West is a reflection of her dedication to community-led change and her ability to inspire collaboration and innovation. I’ve experienced firsthand the leadership, care and commitment Dawn brings to everything she does. I’m proud of all that’s been achieved under her leadership, and confident that Bolton CVS will continue to thrive as we move into this next chapter.”
– Jenny Maher, Acting Chair of Bolton CVS
We understand that leadership changes can raise questions, and we want to reassure our members, partners and stakeholders that Bolton CVS is actively planning for a smooth succession. The Board is committed to ensuring continuity, stability, and the ongoing delivery of high-quality support to the VCSE sector. Further updates will be shared in due course. This transition marks a moment of celebration and renewal for both organisations. We look forward to seeing Dawn continue her impactful leadership at BACKUP North West and to welcoming new energy and vision at Bolton CVS.
