Local Charities Day - with a festive twist!

Thu, 16/12/2021

Tomorrow, Bolton CVS will be celebrating the incredible work of Bolton’s charities with online celebrations that mark Local Charities Day 2021.

In an online event, Bolton CVS will be shining the light on the incredible achievements of local charity, voluntary and community groups across Bolton, including Beacon Counselling Services who were recipients of the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Service earlier this year.

Local community organisations, who have stepped out to meet the needs of people across Bolton in response to the pandemic this year, will also be joining; including local community group, Bolton Mutual Aid, and Bag the Bug - an organisation that started with the concept of creating free uniform bags for healthcare staff. Bolton-based charity, Trust Music, will be joining celebrations with some festive tunes to close the event.

Local organisations and charities have worked tirelessly to adapt to the emerging needs of people as the effects of the pandemic have continued to be revealed.

Rob Bakewell, Grassroots Development Officer at Bolton CVS comments:

“We can never underestimate the importance of celebrating and shining the light on local charities and the wonderful support they offer day-in-day-out to people across the borough. This year we’ve seen a tremendous amount of innovation as individuals and voluntary organisations adapt their services to people’s needs as the effects of the pandemic have continued to unravel.

As Grassroots Development Worker at Bolton CVS, I get to see first-hand the multitude of new initiatives set up by individuals and organisations around Bolton. The innovation, creativity and determination to make a difference never ceases to amaze me.

This year alone I’ve worked alongside more than 100 individuals and organisations wanting to set up something new in a bid to help others, many of whose lives in some way would be that bit more difficult without the support these organisations offer.”

The event will be held tomorrow on Zoom.
