Henshaws Bolton Networking Day

Wed, 15/08/2018

Henshaws are hosting a networking day on Tuesday 4th September 11am till 2pm at their hub on Ainsworth Lane, Tonge Moor, home to Bolton Society for Blind People prior to the merge with Henshaws in 2017.  The event is aimed at informing local people living with sight loss, their Family or Carers and Professionals of the advice and support available to them locally. Henshaws is a northern charity newly based in The Sensory Centre at Thicketford supporting people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to go beyond expectations.

At Henshaws we believe that, wherever they are, everyone has the right to an independent and fulfilling life. Our support, advice and training enables people and their families to build skills, develop confidence, help each other and look forward to a more positive future.

The Open Day on the 4th September aims to provide information on all of Henshaws Services and the opportunity for people to learn more about what is on offer locally. We will be joined on the day by partner organisations also showcasing their work and linked professionals including; RNIB Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (The Royal Bolton Hospital), The Blind Veterans, Bolton Council Independent Living Service Sensory Support and many more.  Guests can also expect to see our Tai Chi group in action, guided by our Tai Chi trained Enablement Officer who will be offering guests the opportunity to participate should they wish before enjoying a free buffet lunch, refreshments and the opportunity to try out technology during equipment demonstrations of useful technology available to support those with sight loss.

Henshaws services are open to everyone of any age and are free.

Bolton Enablement Officer Suzie Bunn and I will be available to chat to guests about our Independence matters and Friendship matters groups which offer further opportunity to develop confidence, circle of friends and independence after completing our LWSL course.

Whether you are a member of the public, a carer or a professional in order to receive your invite for the day and to order your lunch please contact Justine Watson Smith on 07970637105 or contact Head Office on 0300 222 5555.  If you do not contact us for an invite, you can just drop by on the day but in order to ensure your free lunch please do call us and alert us to your plan to attend on the day.
