Self Care Training Course

Do You Value Yourself?

A unique short course designed to provide you with the skills to take control of your own health and well being. It encourages, motivates and empowers you to be an active carer of yourself and to promote self care to others. You will need to commit to six sessions, lasting 2 hours each over a 6 week period. The short activities and discussions are interactive and are recorded in a personal workbook that participants keep for future reference.

Session 1: Self Care, Self Empowerment, and Health Beliefs
Session 2: Motivation and Behavioural Change
Session 3: Social Aspects of Health and Wellbeing
Session 4: Psychological Aspects of Health and Wellbeing
Session 5: Physical Aspects of Health and Wellbeing - Eating
Session 6: Physical Aspects of Health and Wellbeing - Exercise

The Community Engagement Team, in partnership with NHS Bolton, held a Self Care presentation event on 28th February 2009. The event brought together participants from across Bolton who had successfully completed their Self Care course. Participants were given the opportunity to talk about how they benefited from the course.

The Community Engagement Workers, who facilitated the courses, provided a valuable insight of how they worked with each community group. Lesley Jones, Specialist in Public Health, then presented the Self Care certificates.

"We are very proud of everyone’s achievements".
