Community and faith leaders, and political and business leaders from across Bolton, have joined together to launch the ‘One Bolton’ pledge.

It is a commitment to celebrate community cohesion, while recognising diversity.

The pledge also offers people an alternative means to demonstrate their commitment to Bolton as a welcoming and tolerant town, in response to a planned demonstration in Bolton town centre by the English Defence League.

A brand new project to develop the skills of the voluntary and community sector across Greater Manchester was launched in February at GMCVO.

iLearn is a new project which will offer a range of informal and innovative learning opportunities free of charge to the voluntary and community sector in Greater Manchester.

The Leadership Development Programme is a highly successful, pioneering programme for members of the community who are making a difference. This course is aimed at interfaith organisations and leaders, although it is open to anyone in a leadership role as well as people of no specific faith. It is also open to leaders from the public and private sectors.

Mediabox has announced big changes to its ‘Mini Mediabox’ grant, giving more organisations from across the country access to funding for youth-led media projects.

The changes to ‘Mini Mediabox’ aim to encourage further youth groups and organisations from across England to take advantage of the grant. Changes include increasing the annual turnover threshold from £100,000 to £150,000 as well as accepting applications from support branches or umbrella groups.

The BIG Bolton Fund want you to take part in the Mayor’s Mile taking place on its rescheduled date of Sunday 2nd May 2010 to help raise vital funds that will make a difference to the community now and in the future.

This workshop will be delivered by Joan Manville and will look at how to apply for accreditation for the volunteer development programme, how much work is involved , participants can go through all the paperwork required and find out more information about the accredited course.

The University of Bolton is now able to offer accrediation for participants who have attended this course within the past three years and for people who wish to attend.

The conference is for key decision makers and managers in Bolton and will explore new initiatives and ideas developed by the partners on the Local Safeguarding Adults Board.

This will include presentations about:

• The new Adult at Risk Framework
• Tools for communicating the safeguarding message
• Preventing abuse and neglect in services and the community
