Cancer Chancer

Aims and objectives of the project
  • To raise awareness/recognition of the symptoms - a change in a cough or coughing up blood, breast lumps/changes to the size, shape or feel of the breast, blood in your pee, altered bowel habit or rectal bleeding - of the five most common cancers; lung, breast, bowel, kidney and bladder.
  • To change behaviour and encourage people with symptoms to visit their GP. The project aims to address people's fear and lack of awareness with the clear call to action, 'go to see your doctor', motivated by the core, positive message: 'catching it early could save your life'.
  • To engage Primary Care by encouraging GPs and other health professionals to further engage with the cancer agenda and ensure the campaign has longevity after July via training and information dissemination.
  • Increase the proportion of people with cancer who survive one year and reduce the proportion who first present as an emergency.

Our 40 minute workshop is about the signs and symptoms of cancer. Finding out you have cancer early could save your life.  This is because it's a lot easier to treat early cancer.
If you would like to take part in our informative workshop please contact Diane Craddock on 01204 546040 or email diane@boltoncvs.org.uk

Our Community Engagement Workers contacted local venues and business who displayed the Cancer Chancer posters on their premises to help raise awareness.
